He is a visionary. He was called to pastor at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church on April 24, 1988. God has given him visions and allowed him to see them come to past. God has allowed him to preach and teach the word of God with an anointing that has and continues to inspire many to give their life to Christ. The members have grown spiritually, while the membership and finances continue to grow. Through his vision from God, we have purchased and built a new sanctuary, provided room for parking and have properties that generate revenue for the church. The building fund has been instituted for the purpose of erecting the administrative and educational building. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Pastor Thorne, in November 2013, launched the Lifestyle Stewardship Capital Campaign. It is an extension of the building fund

Rev. Thorne has a love for God’s people that surpasses all understanding. He does like the good shepherd watching and praying for his flock. He believes in fasting and prayer, and he encourages his members and the association to trust God through fasting and prayer. He exhibits the kind of love that says no hour is too late; no distance is too far, I am there for you, in spirit and in love.
