Deacon and Deaconess Ministry
The Deacon Ministry was established under the pastor ship of Rev. I. D. Tyson in 1928, with Deacon Jack Carter as the first Chairman of the Deacon Ministry. He is credited with having the original idea about establishing First Calvary Baptist Church. He played an instrumental part in organizing and conducting the business of the church. The land was purchased from him for $5.00 to build the church. Mrs. Inez Simmons and Mrs. Gracie Scott, daughters of Deacon Carter still attend First Calvary.

Miscellaneous Information:
Deacon Enoch Miller was ordained on March 14, 1982, under the pastorate of Rev. Wesley G. Griffin. Deacon Miller served as Treasurer of the Ludowici District, and our Senior Choir. Deacon Miller helped to take care of Rev. Thorne’s family while he was away in Desert Storm. He served faithfully until his health failed him. But being at home does not stop him from being active with the deacon ministry.
